As I type this, a first alpha is being uploaded to a file sharing website. It’s barely even an alpha, and I’ve done much more than this, I’m just releasing this to give an idea on how the game works. It was made in Game Maker (as you can tell as I haven’t done a custom loading screen or icon) and the graphics weren’t done by me, they were done by someone else, I would link you to his site but there’s a problem with that, I’ll explain later, next post I’ll put a link to his site.

So yes. The first alpha of Castle Wars has been released. It’s 2.72mb, I don’t know how the file is so big, really, when the game is so small, but then again it’s built on a 3D engine. You move with the arrow keys and shoot with space. It’s still uploading, so I may as well keep talking. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah (86%) blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah (95%) blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah (now it’s verifying). OK, and we’re done. It can be downloaded fromhere, I hope…

Haha, I know I didn’t want this to happen, but I didn’t realise that this would be such a big stage of the game. I failed to realise how big of a job the level design would be, and that once it is complete, the game is completed.  Sorry to all.

I have announced that the first open beta of Castle Wars will be released on Monday, the 24th of December, AKA Christmas Eve.  The graphics in this version will NOT be original, along with the release post there will be acknowledgements to the owners of the images used, but the level design and programming were all done by me.

When the game’s first beta is released, I would greatly appreciate any bug reports you can give me, like glitches and such, that’s the only way I’m gonna know. If you would like to contribute graphics for it, you will need to do some animation and texture styling, please contact me by emailing rustythegingerninja@gmail.com to show your interest. Trust me, it will be a great thing to put on your portfolio.

My first game to be published, Castle Wars, begun its development today.  It is the first game I’ve decided to make for my portfolio for Qantm College.  It’s being programmed in Game Maker Pro, mainly using GML (Game Maker Language).  I’ve got a basic level done, with Doom-like graphics I found on the net. There’s a long way to go from here, I’ve got to add a lot more into the game, not to mention making the graphics.  I would upload what I’ve done so far, but I’m afraid that’d be against the law because the graphics used are under a licence, and until I make my own I can’t distribute the game.

Other than that, thing seem to be going good, graphics is going to be the speed-bump next, because I’m not that flash on 3D animation. But anyways, hope to put up a beta soon, and thanks for reading.
